in 1680s, john gandy of exeter supplied cloth philippa randle of bodinnick, sending consignments both barge along coast , across fields pack horse. shoe maker known live in village in 1830s.
daphne du maurier wrote many novels while living @ ferryside (a house stated still owned family) on river bank @ bodinnick on eastern shore, opposite fowey; moved menabilly later after publication of novel rebecca. home of sister angela du maurier of life.
