the national flag of saint lucia adopted on march 1, 1967, upon achieving self-government. flag designed dunstan st. omer. government of st. lucia gives following description of flag:



on plain blue field, device consisting of white , black triangular shape, @ base of golden triangle occupies central position. triangles superimposed on 1 black on white, , gold on black. black ends three-pointed star in centre of flag. width of white part of triangle one-and-a-half inches on both sides of black. distance between peaks of black , white triangles 4 inches. triangles share common base length of one-third of full length of flag.



the blue colour represent fidelity. reflects tropical sky , emerald surrounding waters of caribbean sea , atlantic ocean. gold represents prevailing sunshine in caribbean , prosperity.the triangles represent mountains in st. lucia. triangle, shape of partition isosceles triangle, reminiscent of island’s famous twin pitons @ soufriere, rising sheer out of sea, towards sky -themselves, symbol of hope , aspirations of people.
