a number of cultural traits recognized being characteristic of mississippians. although not mississippian peoples practiced of following activities, distinct ancestors in adoption of or of these traits.
the mississippians had no writing system or stone architecture. worked naturally occurring metal deposits, such hammering , annealing copper ritual objects mississippian copper plates , other decorations, did not smelt iron or practice bronze metallurgy.
