admission undergraduate , postgraduate courses in jgec granted through written entrance examinations. admission undergraduate programmes in jgec through west bengal joint entrance examination (wbjee). candidates qualify admission through wbjee can apply admission in four-year b.tech (bachelor of technology) @ jgec. admissions postgraduate programmes i.e. mtech (master of technology) made through graduate aptitude test in engineering (gate). 20.63% of seats reserved students belonging scheduled castes (sc) , 6.35% scheduled tribes (st).and of 2015, 3.17% separate reservation exists people disability (pwd/ph) , 4.61% students tuition fee waiver (tfw)

it based on four-year programme 8 semesters. first year of b.tech curriculum has common courses various departments. second year onwards, students take courses offered respective departments. in final year of studies, of students offered jobs in industries , other organisations through training , placement section of college. students opt out of facility in favour of higher studies or applying recruiting organisations directly.
