in 2008 season, dalton led tcu 11–2 record, finishing in second place in mountain west conference , seventh in national ap poll. named 2008 poinsettia bowl mvp in horned frogs 17–16 win on boise state.


in 2009 season, dalton led horned frogs perfect 12–0 regular season, mountain west conference championship, #6 ranking in ap poll, , bcs berth. horned frogs lost 17–10 in fiesta bowl boise state.


on september 4, 2010, dalton recorded thirtieth victory horned frogs starting quarterback, passing sammy baugh tcu s all-time wins leader. against baylor, dalton completed 21 of 23 pass attempts (a career-best , single game record 91.3%) 267 yards , 2 touchdowns. team won second consecutive mountain west conference championship. on january 1, 2011, dalton, completed 194 of 293 passes 2638 yards 26 touchdowns during senior season, led team 21–19 victory on #4 wisconsin in rose bowl in pasadena, california. tcu football team finished season perfect 13–0 record , #2 ranking in ap poll. auburn, other team perfect record, won bcs national championship year.


dalton held school career records wins (42), passing yards (10,314), pass attempts (1,317), completions (812), , completion percentage (61.6) @ time graduated, few years later, trevone boykin surpassed of dalton s records. dalton held mwc career leader in total offense (11,925 yards) , plays scrimmage (1,730).
