biography
early life

kees verkade born in 1941 in haarlem. took painting lessons gerrit van ’t net 1958 1963, , dirk bus @ royal academy in hague.


career

in 1964, had first exposition in haarlem vleeshal (the former municipal meat market, belonging frans hals museum. success , frans hals museum bought 2 of sculptures. specializses in carving , sculpture. 1 of works in haarlem vleeshal. big breakthrough came when work (at time depicting sports movements) noticed american author visiting haarlem in 1969. showed photographs of verkade s sculptures friends. verkade proceeded become internationally recognized artist, , many local associations bought work. work can seen in public places around haarlem , zandvoort, lived , worked.


in 2013, did public sculpture of late rainier iii, prince of monaco (1923-2005), stands outside prince s palace of monaco.


personal life

he has been resident of monaco since 1979.
