history

in middle ages, jews in germany have been expelled cities countryside , margins of society. therefore, have settled isolated , sporadic. there has been no considerable jewish community life anymore. not earlier @ end of 16th century there has been again signs of jewish reorganization. jews have begun re-establish jewish communities in villages , have started build synagogues. in swabia, happening faster, elsewhere in germany. synagogues became more , more handsome. between 1780 , 1820 developed own swabian style of synagogues, inspired empire style. following former synagogues examples specific swabian style. of them have been plundered , vandalized 1938 during kristallnacht. use of buildings synagogues ended.

this synagogue built between 1805 - 1807 in wallerstein. 1938 nazis vandalized , used later warehouse. today, there bank in building.

synagogue of ichenhausen

this synagogue built in 1781 in ichenhausen. in 1938 has been vandalized , later used warehouse wehrmacht. 1958 1985 municipality used building fire station. aktionskreis synagoge ichenhausen e. v. synagogue has been authentically restored 1984 1987. today, house of encounter . on upper floor, there permanent exhibition judaism in swabian countryside.

synagogue of hürben, krumbach

this synagogue built in 1818 in hürben, part of krumbach. similar synagogue of ichenhausen. synagogue has been vandalized in 1938, burnt down in 1939 , demolished nazis in 1942.

synagogue of illereichen, altenstadt

this synagogue built in 1802/03 in illereichen, former name of altenstadt. in 1938 synagogue has been vandalized , in 1955 demolished.
