strengthening afp external defense
maritime security
maritime domain awareness
humanitarian assistance , disaster response (hadr)

the agreement allows u.s. forces access , use of designated areas , facilities owned , controlled armed forces of philippines @ invitation of philippine government. contains clear provision u.s. not establish permanent military presence or base in philippines , prohibition of entry philippines of nuclear weapons. edca has initial term of ten years, , thereafter continue in force until terminated either party after having given one-year notice of intention terminate.
