in 1980s, company continued grow acquisition of 3 well-known regional insurers - commerce group , belair in quebec, , western union in alberta. in 1991, nationale-nederlanden merged nmb postbank create ing group, 1 of first bank assurance groups in world. in 1993, company’s business continued grow, brought insurance companies had been operating separated entities under umbrella of ing canada.

on march 10, 2009, ing insurance company of canada changed name intact insurance company. on may 13, 2009, ing canada inc. changed name intact insurance.
