the collector s edition of game released on january 12, 2007 worldwide. collector s edition included special edition steelbook case, art book including exclusive cover art, multimedia cutscenes, , multiplayer maps not released until months later free.

lost planet: colonies gold edition version of extreme condition xbox 360 , microsoft windows. game includes new multiplayer maps, human vs akrid multiplayer mode, , selection of new multiplayer characters , weapons.

colonies introduces 4 new single-player modes: score attack (points given each kill using combos, akin co-op mode in halo 3), time trial battle mode (similar arcade mode of call of duty 4: modern warfare), first person shooter mode, , unlimited mode (which must unlocked). game includes cross-platform play between xbox live , games windows – live users. colonies edition not compatible original lost planet save games or multiplayer game, players of each release may play others have same release. game released in north america on may 27, 2008, in japan on may 29 , in europe on june 6. game available purchase download on steam. however, still requires user log windows live account in order play.

capcom announced 3 maps packs , single map downloadable content. first map pack released on march 9, 2007. pack included radar field , island 902 . second pack released on april 6, 2007 , contained maps hive complex , trial point . capcom released single map pack, battle ground on june 7, 2007 , final pack on august 16, 2007 included maps lost technology , ruins , , ice drop .

on july 16, 2007, capcom announced first downloadable content microsoft windows version. content included new view modes resembling of resident evil series , new multiplayer maps downloadable on console versions. content included 3 new characters, including joe campaign, dead rising s frank west, , frank west wearing mega man suit (also unlockable in dead rising).

appearances in other games

one of mech-suits, ptx-40a, appears playable character in tatsunoko vs. capcom: ultimate all-stars, 1 of 2 largest characters in game. there unlockable mini-game set in lost planet universe, ptx-40a, ryu (from street fighter series), ken eagle (from science ninja team gatchaman) , tekkaman blade battle akrids through several stages.
