the celebrations last ten days , end massive mass in bonfim church. many worshippers come far away honour vows taken our lord of bonfim. church has museum of ex-votos brought worshippers in gratitude after receiving divine grace. feast includes stands serving traditional food, souvenirs, traditional dances , concerts local musical groups.


even though feast catholic in origins, reveals religious syncretism between catholicism , african religions in bahia. in candomblé religion, our lord of bonfim associated oxalá, father of orishas , creator of humankind. indeed, people dress in white during feast honour oxalá.
