the last sm.95 completed on 18 november 1949, last of twenty officially built. had unexceptional performance, pw engines, , had no pressurization @ all, therefore not fly high. mixed construction did not last long: last flight on 28 september 1954 (1950 alitalia).


on january 27 th 1951 lightning struck alitalia savoia-marchetti sm.95b ugolino vivaldi (registration i-dalo, eerily named after first italian pilot killed in aviation accident falling plane in 1910) during flight paris-le bourget airport in paris, france, roma-ciampino airport in rome, italy. aircraft caught fire , crashed north of civitavecchia, italy, killing 14 of 17 people on board.
