the university of arkansas marching band has several student leadership positions, visible of drum majors lead band on field , direct band in stands. drum major auditions start interview of each applicant directors , graduate teaching assistants. pass interview stage invited teaching session, each person gives mock lesson on marching technique. lastly, best of these compete in front of entire band demonstrating traditional drum major run-out, , leading band in stands tunes.

each section has 1 or 2 section leaders, depending on size of section. oversee section during sectional rehearsals, cover music or marching technique. during trips , other events, drum majors rely on section leaders organize band before parades , other performances. section leaders responsible administrative tasks sections such ensuring attendance @ events, , seeing necessary forms filled out section members.

the section further divided small groups led squad leaders. drill captain responsible instruction , demonstration of marching fundamentals , distribution of drill cards.

the band has 1 or more students functioning librarians. responsible ensuring music, drill sheets, etc. printed , ready rehearsals, in addition managing band library. other student leadership positions offered through participation in band service organizations.
