the discovery of site happened chance in 1996. while joaquín ramírez overseeing excavation , construction of cistern in property of brother celso, noticed dirt being removed different find when digging in area. supposing had bones, informed brother, in turn, notified instituto nacional de antropología e historia (inah; national institute of anthropology , history). since many studies have been conducted in order explain large concentration of bones in area.


the paleontological museum in tocuila opened in november 2001, support of property owners, community, university of chapingo , inah.
