pusher finn capsized along barge baltic outside hanko, finland, on 27 december 1990 @ around 12:25 (utc+02). pusher-barge combination finn-baltic en route raahe koverhar 13,398 tons of malmberget fines (maf) iron ore concentrate when cargo shifted in heavy weather, resulting in loss of stability , vessel capsizing in 10–15 seconds. 7 crew members , pilot lost lives in accident, chief engineer , first officer survived in air pocket in aftmost part of engine room , later rescued through hole cut in bottom.


finn-baltic rightened 2 months later soviet crane ship stanislav yudin , towed rauma rebuilding. pusher returned service in 1991 steel , barge botnia.
