anthony randall invented double-axis tourbillon in january 1977 , subsequently patented it. first working example later constructed richard in 1978. in 1980 anthony randall made double-axis tourbillon in carriage clock, located in (now closed) time museum in rockford, illinois, us, , included in catalogue of chronometers.


in 2003, inspired invention, young german watchmaker thomas prescher developed thomas prescher haute horlogerie first flying double-axis tourbillon in pocket watch and, in 2004, first flying double-axis tourbillon constant force in carriage in wristwatch. shown @ baselworld 2003 , 2004 in basel, switzerland.


a characteristic of tourbillon turns around 2 axes, both of rotate once per minute. whole tourbillon powered special constant-force mechanism, called remontoire. thomas prescher invented constant-force mechanism equalize effects of wound , unwound mainspring, friction, , gravitation. thereby force supplied oscillation regulating system of double-axis tourbillon. device incorporates modified system after design henri jeanneret.
