from mid-1980s first backpackers hostels started getting built, , in 1990s more resorts more upmarket tourists. nowadays there several small owner operated bed , breakfast eco lodges hidden away in rainforest. compared lot of famous tourist destinations along coastal queensland, cape tribulation still off beaten track destination.


most people visit area during dry season between july , november. during wet season marine stingers prevalent causing locals , visitors swim in many creeks not home estuary crocodiles. there 4 main resorts in area catering backpackers , more upmarket tourists, , unique rainforest bed , breakfasts.
