1923 - strike breaking

the o gorman brothers discussed in dáil Éireann volume 3–18 may 1923 regard strike @ clonmel factory , bringing in workers (non-union strikebreakers) london. firm engaged on several government contracts, including building 2 limousines high official. proposed company should not allowed carry out government work, under conditions distinct breach of fair wages clause.


1927 - supplying mercedes-benz lorries irish free state

o gorman brothers supplied mercedes-benz 4 ton vehicles irish free state army authorities in 1927. further details of vehicle listed in commercial motor on 10 may 1927 [1] , 27 may 1927, page 80.[2].


1928 - busy period irish coachbuilding

irish coachbuilders @ busiest, working on big bus-body orders. messrs o gorman brothers, employed on 100 men on 1 of biggest bus orders.


1928 - irish coachbuilders seek protection

the irish free state tariff commission considered application imposition of protective tariff. details of coachbuilding in irish free state provided j.f.o gorman. said few bodies motor vehicles made in free state in 1927. if obtained tariff quite capable of providing commercial vehicle bodies required free state. said there difficulty in procuring skilled men, many of them having been attracted england higher wages.


1929 - tariffs import of coachwork , motor bodies

j.f. o gorman called on government place effective tariff on import of coachwork , motor bodies. said there had been exodus of highly skilled labour bodybuilding industry , industry capable of dealing country s requirements.
