frogmen served sea tigers , used in sinking @ least 1 freighter @ sri lankan navy base @ kankesanturai - kks, @ northern point of jaffna peninsula. involved in sinking of sln supply ship in trincomalee harbor in may 2008.


on 17 june 2006 on coast near colombo, 2 frogmen belonging sea tigers captured sri lanka s army while trying bomb ships in colombo port. news images showed frogmen using rebreathers, type 1 oxygen cylinder across belly. on capture, both tried commit suicide using cyanide.


personnel

the total personnel strength between 2,000-3,000 women , men. women operated boats on equal footing male compatriots. number of personnel may vary depending on operational needs. local arms caches hidden in jungle close villages.
