on 15 may 1372, anne s uncle, john count of forez, died leaving no children. anne heir, of john s siblings had died including anne s mother jeanne , had been 1 leave child, namely anne. @ time of accession, anne still minor (aged fourteen) grandmother, joan of clermont, acted regent until anne reached majority, @ time ruled louis.

in 1400, anne s father died , left dauphinate of auvergne, ruled on next seventeen years. anne founded anniversary stepmother margaret ten years after death of father, anne widowed; husband, louis, died in 1410 @ montlucon , older son john succeeded him duke. anne ruled on dauphinate 7 years, until own death @ moulins on 22 september 1417. outlived son john , daughter isabelle; son inherited forez , grandson, louis i, count of montpensier, inherited dauphinate.
