the shooter 24-year-old tristan van der vlis, lived in apartment complex in alphen aan den rijn parents. had lived in alphen since childhood. according police, member of shooting association , possessed 3 firearms. reportedly obsessed computer games call of duty: modern warfare 2 , call of duty: black ops (first-person shooters). had history of psychological , psychiatric problems, including paranoid schizophrenia; in 2006 spent 10 days in closed institution after attempting suicide. tried commit suicide @ least twice in 2008.
