withnell fold methodist church built thomas blinkhorn parke in 1852 day school , chapel combined. opened on 13 june 1852, revd joshua priestly. 2 days later, miss dutton of coventry arrived take post of schoolmistress.


by 1897, school small herbert thomas parke, son of thomas, built new school village square. withnell fold primary school. entrance school sculpted tree represents thomas blinkhorn parke, villages’ founder.


the date stone right of school’s main entrance door shows htp 1897, initials of herbert thomas parke , date building completed. lessons did not start until 2 may 1898, when children moved old school. headmistress esther jenkins, took duties on 7 february 1898. continued teach @ school until retirement in 1935.
