he won gold medal @ pan american junior championship under 15-16 held in ecuador.


2010

medina competed @ 2010 youth world amateur boxing championships, being defeated indian boxer devendro laishram 17–8 in first fight. boxed in 2010 world combat games in beijing, china, won bronze medal after losing zou shiming of china. represented la romana @ 2010 romana cup, winning gold medal in 49 kg light flyweight category defeating luis díaz of dominican republic national team.


2011

medina boxed @ pan american games qualifier 1 in cumaná, venezuela, winning gold medal , qualifying pan american games. @ games lost joselito velázquez in semifinal finish bronze medal in light flyweight category.




in july 2011, medina boxed @ 5th cism military world games , defeated indian nanao singh 20–18 in preliminary round of 49 kg category. @ romana cup, held in hometown la romana, won gold medal in 46–49 kg category , nominated technical boxer in event. in 2011 world amateur boxing championships lost 17–6 zou shiming in first round.


2012

medina avenged pan american games defeat against velasquez in quarterfinal of independence cup , went on win gold medal in −49 kg category, defeating mexican Óscar valdez. in march, medina runner-up dagoberto agüero dominican republic boxing federation s boxer of year award.


medina disqualified in last-16 fight against velázquez in american olympic qualification tournament. after being down 9–17 in third round, medina downed velásquez illegal low punch, , referee disqualified him.
