on first 2 appearance, reine de saba campaigned on sprint distances, finishing third on 1100 metres , 1300 metres. on final run juvenile recorded first win in maiden race on 1600 metres.


1978: three-year-old season

reine de saba began second season in prix de la seine on 2000 metres @ longchamp racecourse , won 2 lengths shelina. on 21 may filly moved in class , started 11/10 favourite group 1 prix saint-alary on soft ground on 2100 metres same course. opponents 9 opponents headed fruhlingstag, thousand stars , tempus fugit had finished second, third , fourth behind dancing maid in poule d essai des pouliches 3 weeks earlier. reine de saba raced behind pacemaker before freddy head sent lead entering straight. never challenged, winning 2 , half lengths outsider lys river, thousand stars taking third ahead of tempus fugit , gayka. dancing maid being sent england oaks, reine de saba started 3/10 favourite prix de diane @ on 2100 metres chantilly racecourse on 11 june, being coupled in betting stablemates madge , prix de royaumont winner la dorga. lys river, fruhlingstag, thousand stars, gayka , tempus fugit again in opposition along calderina (winner of prix de sandringham) , british-trained cistus (winner of waterford candelabra stakes , lupe stakes). reine de saba raced behind leaders until straight when moved second place behind cistus. 300 metres finish accelerated past british filly win 2 lengths calderina in third ahead of outsider paddle. reine de saba sustained chipped bone in knee during race , did not race again in 1978.


1979: four-year-old season

returning break of fourteen months, reine de saba returned run third in race on 1800 metres , finished second, beaten half length fast in prix ridgway @ deauville racecourse in august. finished fourth behind rusticaro, trillion , northern baby prix du prince d orange ran unplaced behind producer when second favourite prix de l opera in october. later month recorded success of year when beating thousand stars 2 , half lengths in prix du point de jour on 2000 metres @ longchamp. on final appearance reine de saba sent california contest grade yellow ribbon stakes on mile , quarter @ santa anita park , fast-finishing fourth behind country queen.
