bizerte crisis: tunisia sent troops surround french naval base @ bizerte, beginning standoff between 2 nations. demonstration started out peacefully until 2:15 pm, when french army helicopter fired @ ground forces while flying supplies base. france responded bombing , strafing tunisian positions 2 sides exchanged gunfire. 2 days later, france attacked city of bizerte. french losses 13 dead , 35 wounded. tunisians suffered 670 dead , 1,555 wounded.
an aerolĂ­neas argentinas dc-6 airplane crashed while flying buenos aires comodoro rivadavia, killing 67 persons on board. plane had been attempting make emergency landing @ azul , burst flames after crashing near chachari.
