the uoe maintains 1 of 3 operational teams on maximum alert (alpha-1) immediate deployment on rotational basis.


the uoe first deployed overseas in 1969, 2 years after founded, when spearheaded evacuation of spanish citizens former spanish colony of equatorial guinea in africa. since then, unit has been reported have participated in fight against basque eta violence inside spain (though today strictly preserve of civilian police forces).
