ice hockey

intercollegiate men s ice hockey began in 1925-26 season. team had competed independent team in division through 1960s , division ii through 1970s. nanooks returned division level in 1985-86 season , joined great west hockey conference (gwhc). team won 1987-88 gwhc regular season , 1988 playoff championship. program member of western collegiate hockey association (wcha) , in 2010 nanooks appeared in first ever ncaa division men s ice hockey tournament before falling 3-1 boston college.

the mixed rifle team has won ten ncaa rifle championships (1994, 1999–2004, 2006–2008) , placed runners-up 4 times. in addition team championships, 12 nanook riflers have won individual championships in 2007 university hosted ncaa rifle championship, saw host nanooks win eighth title in 9 year in front of crowd of 1,000. nanooks rifle team won 2008 national championship , appeared runner-up texas christian university in 2010.


in june, 2013, nanooks became charter member of patriot rifle conference.
