the church damaged in earthquake in 1328, , reconstructed during 14th century. nave lengthened using gabled roof, presbytery raised, , façade enriched addition of portal. church became small increasing population, further enlarged in late 15th century, when new nave built right hand side of church, doubling size. portal on side bore year 1491, date of completion. @ point, church acquired dedication holy saviour. in 1493, benedictines gave church parish of sant andrea del castello. church damaged earthquakes , subsequently repaired number of times.

the bishop of spoleto, carlo giacinto lascaris, historian , archivist, arrived in valnerina (it) in october 1712, , documented visit in diary. mentions church s ancient origins , disputes between benedictines , community of campi in tomo i° de la sacra visita del 1712. giuseppe sordini visited church in october 1908 , made description of works of art inside, published gli sparapane da norcia. nuovi dipinti e nuovi documenti in bollettino d arte del ministero della pubblica istruzione in 1910.

the church damaged in earthquake on 24 august 2016, , declared unsafe , closed. destroyed in series of subsequent earthquakes in october 2016, of church collapsing on 26 october , remaining parts collapsing 4 days later on 30 october. part of perimeter wall remains standing, rest of site being pile of rubble. wooden crucifix , fresco fragments have been recovered ruins, , efforts being made preserve as possible rubble.
