the yueying hall dedicated huang yueying in temple of marquis wu, wuzhang plains



a story tells huang yueying challenged suitors visit claiming ugly. in event suitor visit her, hide herself under veils quiet dare test resolve. when zhuge liang came her, figure silhouetted moonlight , head covered 2 red veils. unlike other men, zhuge liang entered room alone , did not hesitate in removing disguises. removed first veil face, calmly stated ugliness misunderstanding father. zhuge liang rewarded huang yueying s joyful visage , gratification.


a memorial exists in supposed hometown of huangjiawan (黄家湾) in yao village (姚庵村) outside xiangyang.
