another notable feature of church painted wooden ceiling, executed bahia artist franco velasco between 1818 , 1820, shows people thanking our lord of bonfim having survived shipwreck. sacristy, nave , other rooms of church display paintings notable bahia painter, josé teófilo de jesus, executed in 1830s.
