prior 2009, festival jointly organised between pod concerts , aiken promotions. british promoter festival republic bought out share of aiken promotions in electric picnic in march 2009, joining in partnership pod concerts organise 2009 event. festival republic 50.1% owned live nation biggest concert , festival promoter in world move seen many positive move festival.

on friday 10 october 2008, limited number of ‘early bird’ tickets went on sale @ 2008 price of €199, includes camping. bird tickets sold out in days. tickets festival went on sale on 17 april 2009 @ 09:00. family ticket, introduced electric picnic 2008, returned, allowing 2 adults , many 4 children live in family campsite weekend. festival declared sell-out promoter john reynolds.

electric picnic 2009 launched on 15 april 2009 in harcourt street alice in wonderland , bell x1. initial announcement included forty-seven acts. artist booker declan forde stated shower , lavatory conditions top priority 2009 festival. amongst first acts announced orbital, flaming lips, basement jaxx, madness, klaxons, bell x1, fleet foxes , mgmt. bell x1 , rodrigo y gabriela made electric picnic debuts, whilst chic made first ever irish appearance @ festival. appearing seasick steve, 2 many djs, jape, lisa hannigan, damien dempsey, alabama 3, bat lashes, imelda may, echo & bunnymen, magazine, halfset , villagers. low anthem played on 4 september irish independent described mix of acts unveiled @ launch consisting of reformed supergroups, cult indie acts, , couple of hot young things . more acts announced @ later date.

other additions

brian wilson, röyksopp, amadou & mariam, wailers, fionn regan, mundy, james murphy , pat mahoney of lcd soundsystem, flock of seagulls, bell orchestre, field, jeffrey lewis, marina , diamonds , richmond fontaine announced on 13 may 2009. big pink added on 29 may.

the stradbally laughs line-up announced on 16 july 2009 , included sean hughes, phil nichol, brendon burns, gavin webster, kevin bridges, joe rooney, eric lalor, andrew stanley, damien clarke, dead cat bounce , steve frost s impro all-stars featuring andy smart, steve steen, richard vrench , ian coppinger. tommy tiernan headline comedy tent.

more acts added on 22 july 2009. these included florence , machine, baaba maal, duckworth lewis method, mick flannery, big pink, nightmares on wax soundsystem, laura izibor, 2 door cinema club, blitzen trapper, wave machines, peter broderick, cap pas cap , stee downes.

on 30 july, more acts announced, including beach house, blindfold, soundcarriers, amorphous androgynous, golden animals, tulla céilí band , lamb. boy 8-bit announced.

on 4 august, revealed there recycling tent feature display of ancient technological equipment such walkman.

on 13 august, revealed xx appearing @ festival.

on 18 august, poptopia! line-up announced, featuring acts such dark room notes, neosupervital , miss panti.

on 19 august, several more acts announced. these included passion pit, our fold, david kitt, david geraghty, 8-ball, hacker, optomo djs, switch, zombie nation, duke dumont, aeroplane djs, ebony bones!, arveene & misk, japanese popstars , luciano.
