the king remarried, widow 3 daughters, , stepmother , stepsisters maltreated her, giving coat made of rushes wear—calling rushen coatie—and little food. red calf came her, , when asked food, told pull ears. stepmother set 1 of daughters spy on rushen coatie, , girl discovered red calf.


the stepmother feigned illness , told king needed sweetbread red calf. king had slaughtered, dead calf told rushen coatie bury body, , did, except shankbone, not find.


at yuletide, stepmother , stepsisters jeered @ wanting go church , set make dinner, red calf limped kitchen. gave clothing wear , told charm cook supper. @ church, young prince fell in love her.


she went twice more, , third time, prince set watch stop her, jumped on , shoe, made of glass, fell ground.
